AGTA Announces Alfie Norville Women in Excellence Award
The honors will highlight female designers of the 2024 AGTA Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards.
The Alfie Norville Women in Excellence Award was named for the late Alfie Norville, co-founder of the GJX Show in Tucson, Arizona.
Dallas—The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) will hand out a new award highlighting female designers at its 2024 Spectrum Awards.
The Alfie Norville Women in Excellence Award was created to honor female designers in the bridal wear, classical, engagement rings, evening wear, business/day wear and men’s wear categories.
It is sponsored by Allan Norville and the Norville family.
Allan and Alfie Norville were real estate developers in Tucson, Arizona.
Alfie, who died in 2015, helped establish the annual Gem & Jewelry Exchange (GJX) jewelry trade show, which launched in Tucson in 1994 and is attended by thousands each year.
To honor the late co-founder’s passion for jewelry and devotion to the industry, the University of Arizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum was opened in 2022.

To honor the late co-founder’s passion for jewelry and devotion to the industry, the University of Arizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum was opened in 2022.
The Norvilles’ oldest daughter Patti Norville Spector will serve as a judge for the inaugural award.
Her mother nurtured her love of gemstones and fine jewelry, she said.
Spector is involved with the museum and has helped with GJX since its first year. She now runs the trade show.
She has also worked for more than 25 years with her father in land development, property management, leasing, bookkeeping, and office management.
The Alfie Norville Women in Excellence Awards are open to all women entering the aforementioned categories. They must indicate eligibility on their entry forms.
Judging takes place in Dallas in late October 2024.
