Vintage Baume & Mercier Gifted by Elvis Going Up for Auction
Elvis gave the watch to actress Dodie Marshall after filming “Easy Come, Easy Go.”
As part of its upcoming online watch sale, Bonhams is selling a vintage Baume & Mercier watch that Elvis Presley gave to actress Dodie Marshall.
Marshall and Elvis starred in the comedy/musical “Easy Come, Easy Go” together.
She played his love interest in the movie, and Bonhams said Elvis gave her the watch as a token of his affection after filming wrapped in 1967 but before he wed Priscilla Presley in Las Vegas.
The Baume & Mercier timepiece is 14-karat gold with diamonds in a crescent moon shape spanning from 7 o’clock to 2 o’clock.
Elvis had the words “From Elvis Presley to Dodie Marshall my great treasure my greatest love Elvis,” engraved on the caseback.
She wore it for many years, and it is now being offered directly from her private estate.
Born in the United States in 1934, Marshall first appeared on film in 1964, in an episode of the TV show “My Favorite Martian.”
In addition to “Easy Come, Easy Go,” she starred in “Spinout” (1966) and “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” (1964).
“The timepiece gifted by Elvis Presley to co-star Dodie Marshall is an exciting watch to come to market for the first time,” said Nate Borgelt, the head of Bonhams watches department in America.
“The wristwatch is dedicated to Dodie on the back of the watch as well as on the Screen Actors Guild charm on the bracelet. The piece has great provenance coming from the private estate of Dodie Marshall.”
The watch is expected to sell for $4,000 to $6,000.
Elvis was known as a jewelry and watch lover, and also as someone who liked to give jewelry and watches as gifts.
In 2022, Kruse GWS Auctions held a sale that included numerous pieces of jewelry and watches the singer gave to his longtime manager, Tom Parker, but believed to be lost for decades.
The Bonhams Fine Watches Online sale opens April 20 and closes April 30.
It also includes a rare circa 1972 Rolex Daytona Cosmograph “Paul Newman” Ref. 6262/6239 with a cream-colored dial, a model produced in limited numbers.
It is estimated to sell for $150,000 to $250,000.
