Cynthia Erivo to Receive Gem Award for Jewelry Style
Plus, Tiffany & Co. will take home a special award in honor of its recent flagship renovation.
The Gem Award for Jewelry Style will be presented to British actress and singer Cynthia Erivo, who has won Emmy, Grammy and Tony awards and was nominated for two Oscars, Best Actress and Best Original Song for 2019’s “Harriet.”
The “trendsetting, modern style muse” has been seen on Broadway and West End stages in “The Color Purple” and produced and is currently starring in “Drift,” which recently debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.
She will also star as Elphaba opposite Ariana Grande’s Glinda in Universal’s film adaptation of the musical “Wicked” from director Jon M. Chu, set to be released Nov. 27, 2024.
Erivo has been an ambassador for Muse Showroom’s “Have a Heart” charity initiative, with some of the proceeds benefiting The Loveland Foundation, which supports communities of color with a focus on Black women and girls.
“Cynthia Erivo has long captured our attention on the Gem Awards Committee with the imaginative ways she wears jewelry,” Gem Award Committee Chair Marion Fasel said.
“On the red carpet, during television appearances and performances on stage, she has shown time and again what a powerful form of personal expression jewelry can be. We are thrilled beyond measure Cynthia will be accepting the style prize.”
The committee also has chosen to honor Tiffany & Co. with a Special Recognition Award as the jeweler celebrates the renovation and reopening of its Fifth Avenue flagship in New York.
“The completion of Tiffany’s holistic four-year-long interior renovation of the Fifth Avenue location, rechristened ‘The Landmark,’ was the biggest jewelry event of the last year and ignited enthusiasm around the world to visit and shop at the New York City store,” Fasel said.
“The Gem Awards Committee conceived of the Special Recognition Award category in order to acknowledge the achievement in a unique way. We are overjoyed Tiffany is accepting the honor and look forward to celebrating how The Landmark has raised the bar in retail at the Gem Awards.”
Held annually in New York, the Gem Awards gala honors individuals and brands whose work raises the profile and status of fine jewelry and watches.
While these two awards, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award, are announced ahead of time, the other winners will be announced live at the event Friday.
